What Buyers Should Include in a Plastic Resin RFQ
A useful plastic resin RFQ identifies the material or target grade, application, process, quantity, destination, packaging and required documents. If the exact grade is unknown, describe the part and performance requirements instead.
1. Identify the material and grade preference
State the material family (for example PP, PE, ABS, PC, PET or POM), preferred manufacturer and exact grade code if known. If you are open to alternatives, say so explicitly.
If you do not know the grade, provide the current material used, part description, processing method and the reason for considering a change.
2. Describe the application and process
Explain whether the material will be injection molded, extruded, blow molded, used in film, fiber, sheet or another process. Add the end-use application and any important operating conditions.
List the properties that matter most, such as flow, impact, stiffness, transparency, colour, UV exposure, chemical contact or flame-retardant requirements. Attach a drawing or specification only when you are authorized to share it.
3. Specify quantity and destination
Provide the initial order quantity, expected repeat demand, packaging preference and destination country or port. These details affect sourcing options, logistics and the commercial basis.
If you have an Incoterm preference, payment terms or a required shipment window, include it. Otherwise, ask the supplier to propose available options.
4. List documents and approval requirements
Specify whether you need TDS, COA, SDS, certificate of origin, recycled-content evidence or destination-specific compliance documents. Requirements must be confirmed for the exact grade and shipment.
A complete RFQ does not guarantee stock or a fixed price. The supplier should confirm grade, batch, quantity, price basis, validity period and delivery terms in writing.
